Bareback Saddles & Pads

Customer comment: I LOVE my sheepskin bareback pad... love the girth, love that I can actually mount using the stirrups, love the feel during a ride.... (I need to sign up for a commission...everyone that sees mine wants one! I know I've sold at least two for you!!) Linda R

This is a review from of our BAREBACK SADDLE from THE TRAIL RIDER MAGAZINE.

"I found it easy to adjust the stirrups to set the length for any rider. The leather was smooth and easy. ..the connected stirrups, cantle, and thigh rolls made the saddle feel secure while the wool seat provided a close-contact feel...(this) is a saddle that is a great teaching tool for balance and learning the horse's footfalls...When saddling up, the Tackaberry made the process easy...loved the comfort and look of this saddle. It felt great and provided lots of "feel." It's perfect for active riders to ride in all day..."

Testimonials from our clients

I don't think I have ever been so comfortable in an astride saddle as with your BAREBACK SADDLE. As for accouterments, I really like the look and feel of those stirrups (the English Safety) and I am -- as you predicted -- especially impressed with the Tackaberry girthing system. What a wonderful piece of simple, beautiful engineering it is. The saddle appears to need neither breastplate or crupper. Today I rode it in for two hours..and the saddle stayed just where I put it when I first saddled up.
Lydia Rivin,
London, England.

Been tying out my new bareback saddle (reining) and I LOVE it...love love love it..and SOOOO pretty. I have been hooked on your saddles since I tried one out 25 years ago.
Jennifer Brock, British Columbia, Canada.

I'm so excited about getting this bareback saddle. ASSC, you make the Mercedes of saddles and I couldn't be more thrilled about getting another for my skyrocket Arabian.
Debi West

You suggested your new bareback saddle, I want to let you know I absolutely love it. It fits my horses wonderfully, I am not constantly tightening the saddle, matter of fact I hardly ever have to tighten it throughout my ride and it is so very comfortable for me and my horses.  A friend of mine tried it this last weekend and now she has one on order too. Thank you so much for working with me and making sure I was a satisfied customer. That very act shows you are a true businessman and care about your customers. I will continue to refer the bareback saddle to anyone that inquires about it.
Again, many thanks,
Leah Terrell from Indiana

NEW!!!!

THE EQUALIZER BAREBACK Saddle is a major break through in close-contact riding. It looks like our LUXURY BAREBACK PAD but it is actually saddle  built on a "tree" fashioned from two heavy duty plastic plates that run the length and breadth of the bearing surface of the pad. See the shape of the tree on the underside, pictured on the right. The plates are vented to allow heat to escape. See the many vent holes. The plates are sandwiched between the pure wool felt on the underside, that of course goes against the horse, and the sheepskin on the top, that provides plush comfort for the rider!. Like our extremely successful LUXURY BAREBACK PAD, this upgraded edition cinches western, and has all the standard fittings that are heavily reinforced with hidden webbing.

The tree in this saddle spreads the bearing weight of the rider over a larger surface of the horse's back, equalizing the downward pressure . It also adds greater comfort for the purchase of the wide webbing band (hidden between the two layers of the pad) that goes over the top to connect both cinch rings. Because the tree is flexible, THE EQUALIZER BAREBACK PAD moves with the motion of the horse's back.

Colors off-white or black. Price $2,395.00  without mountings

Add $100 for the complete package of top grade mountings: leathers, stirrups, girth, off-billet, and near-side tackaberry lacing.

Black Bareback Saddle
The BAREBACK SADDLE shown in black sheepskin, with black leathers, AND "bling" hand-engraved stirrups, which come standard. Please note that the stirrup leathers are issued extra long, to accommodate very tall riders, or short riders. The stirrup leathers are especially designed so they can be easily trimmed to custom fit the leg length needed. Colors on the engraved stirrups are brown, or black.. Also as an alternative, at no charge, are plain Brady oxbows stirrups. Look under stirrups to find Brady Oxbows.

The BAREBACK SADDLE is a major breakthrough in "bareback pads", because it functions like an actual saddle. The key to its runaway success is the tackaberry girthing system, where the pulley-type function enables the rider to gain a secure purchase. Big D rings are attached to wide webbing that goes over the FLEXIBLE tree so the pull of the girth is spread over the first third of the tree. The rear two-thirds of the tree accommodates the weight of the rider. The end result is EVEN pressure on the back of the horse! Fit this BAREBACK SADDLE with a breast plate, and a crupper, and it will stay put even in rough country.

Sheiloa Kuntz of Simi Valley California swims her horse Shady -- riding her soft saddle. "I have lots of other saddles," says Shila, "But I practially live in my bareback Pad.." She purchased a second one!

Patty Lewis of Santa Barbara Calirfornia bought a Bareback Saddle, and this is what she reported:" "My family loved meeting you and I am grateful to you for the perfect saddle! It has transformed my riding to 100 per cent pleasure."

The BAREBACK POLEY SADDLE comes with 4" poleys built into the lexanne plates that make the body of this incredible bareback saddle. The poleys come standard in black. These poleys can also be fitted on black bareback saddles, or any other custom sheepskin color. The poleys can also come in brown leather. The BAREBACK POLEY saddle is shown here with the custom saddle bag, which go one on each side, or a single bag.

The poleys on The BAREBACK POLEY SADDLE are 4" high and so positioned as to allow a standing rider to lean against them comfortably, to launch arrows, take jumps, or be in a forward position for cross country at high speed.

Why a treeless saddle does not work as well as our BAREBACK SADDLE. We are interested in the BAREBACK POLEY SADDLE WITH CANTLE. Our mule, Doc, definitely moves better in a treeless saddle but on longer rides, the treeless saddle does not adequately distribute the rider’s weight and we are beginning to see white hairs on the back directly under the rider’s seat bones. We currently use both saddle breeching and an endurance style breast collar to further stabilize the saddle on this very round mule.

The BAREBACK POLEY SADDLE WITH CANTLE

The bareback saddle now also comes with a cantle that is 5" in height, and dished for rider comfort. Standard colors brown or black. Custom colors, add $100. Both the knee pads and the cantle are secured to the lexanne plates that equally distributes weight on the horse. The rigging is western with tackaberry girthing system.

Price completely mounted, ready to ride: $2,325

Look, you can ride this saddle with bare legs, and there is no pinching! This because of the position of the stirrup leathers and the fact the straps are buried in lush Merino sheepskin.

A 12-lb ALL LEATHER SADDLE!!!

Better than treeless, and lighter than a fixed tree.

Finally, a 12-lb all-leather saddle that works for both horse and rider!!. The lexanne plates make it more than a regular bareback pad for the horse. You will never have ridden this close to your horse. This new edition of the incredibly successful BAREBACK SADDLE moves saddlery onto a new level. Never has so much saddle been so close-contact or so light!!. It is shown here in blue and black leather, but comes standard in black leather, brown leather, or a combination of both. Also comes in other colors, as shown. Add $100 for custom colored leather, and please make sure it is available. Price of the new ALL LEATHER BAREBACK SADDLE in leather black or brown or a combination of the two, complete.
